So I have a few more minor announcements, which I will detail here! Also more about my newest project, Tech Nova.
The first matter of business is that I have a new Substack post available. This post contains the first chapter of my Substack exclusive story, “Innocence and Fear”. This story is about seventy-five percent done, and I’m hoping by beginning to release it, that I will feel more motivated to finish it. I will release one chapter each month. This story has a thriller feel to it, more than other things I’ve written. I hope people will check it out, and more than that I hope everyone who reads enjoys it.
The other major project I have been working on is editing a final draft of a novel I started in 2021. I have had to put it aside for a while, but I felt ready to try for a semi-final draft of the book. I have been editing without mercy. I have been trying to cut about 30,000 words from the last draft I wrote. I have been trying to get better at editing and proofreading. To my displeasure though, there are still a couple of typos on the last Substack post, but I’m aiming for perfect next month.
I must admit I am getting pleasure from editing more than I ever have before. I have been enjoying the process, and I know this work is improving my writing. I have also been trying to be kind to myself about my writing, even when I am knee-deep in my ugly mistakes. Beating myself up about using too many adverbs will not help me improve, but practicing writing and improving my editing will. I’m about 18,000 words into the rewrite, but even though I’m tracking my words, I am not holding myself to any strict word count. I think the story will be as long or short as it needs to be. I am aiming to finish this final draft by the end of the year. I work on this every day I can.
I have been editing without mercy for about two months now. This includes taking a very hard look at all the unreleased works I plan to continue. Weird word? GONE. The character acts weird or unbelievable, no matter how good the drama is, GONE. Too much flowery writing or adverbs? ALL GONE! It’s like I hold a literary axe, and I have the power to mold a world with it. This process has actually been freeing for me. I also think being a tougher critic of my own writing and trimming the fat has been benefitting my work.
You can expect to see more videos from me on YouTube soon. I have written a few scripts and recorded two of them. I'm exploring some super niche topics alongside my ongoing Mutant Memories series. We'll have a good time. I have been taking it a little easy on the YT videos. So they have not been coming out as fast, but I don’t want to rush that process either.
The biggest thing I am starting is a new blog here on the website. I'll keep writing on my personal blog (which is what you are reading now.), and my new blog, Tech Nova, will explore more technical subjects that pique my curiosity. I am planning to launch this project in September.
I might be returning to college again (fingers crossed everything works out ok with this). I haven’t been in school for a pretty long time, so that is making me a little nervous, but I’m excited as well. Right now I am in the paperwork phase of the complete return to college quest. I think this will be difficult, but I am ready for the challenge. The last time I was in college things were extra difficult because of some mental health issues I had. But this time I feel ready.
Well, that is about it, for now, just wanted to do a quick update. I hope you are all doing well and have a great day.
