I have had a good few days so far in my writing. I have decided to do NaNoWriMo this year for the first time this year.

The novel I am trying to complete Nano with is a complete re-write of a novel I wrote when I was very young. When I say complete re-write I mean COMPLETE. The story was based on a fan-fiction I read when I was a child. Sadly I have never been able to find the Fanfiction again, and I’ve long since lost the disk it was saved on and I have no idea what website I read it on. I think this new re-write will be a good change because I still have the original (handwritten! in several notebooks) and it is pretty cringey, but underneath all that cringe I think there are good bones for a story.

Its genre is I would say Dark Academia Thriller and I am writing it as a mature YA book. I’ve been really enjoying writing this the past few days and I’m ahead in word counting. I think I’m over 13,000 words so far. I really love the characters in this story, I think they are really fun to write. There are some problematic people in this book, but it’s obvious that these people kind of suck. The novel that I just finished the first draft of was different than this story. The last novel I finished back in the summer was first-person POV and more of a character study and I didn’t feel like there were any heroes in that book. This story has more defined good and bad guys. Here is a small snippet from it so far.

“I think someone could be listening to us.” He whispered into her ear. He hoped she had been able to hear him. She leaned back and looked into his eyes.

I just wanted to do a little update here, and also I wanted to announce that I think I’m going to make this story free to read when it’s finished! I’ll keep updating here about the progress and more snippets and information on the story. I am really hoping to be a Nano winner this year.
